Omega Seamaster Calendar

Although Omega has marine watches that date back to the 30’s, the original Seamaster was introduced post WWII. It was inspired by the waterproof watches used by the British military, yet what distinguished the Seamaster from other dive watches was its more resistant rubber O-ring gasket. Unlike other dive watches at the time that used lead or shellac gaskets, the Seamaster’s rubber gasket was much more reliable when it came to temperature changes which helped maintain its structural integrity and thus, remained waterproof. 

Our example has a 34mm case which houses a black dial with crosshair and date at 3. The dial sits above an automatic movement and is joined by a ‘bead of rice’ steel bracelet. The watch is in good condition and is accompanied with 24 month Vintage Watch Co warranty. Circa.1959.
