Omega Speedmaster Professional

Omega first introduced the Speedmaster collection in 1957, with the hand-wound chronograph accompanied numerous members of the Apollo 11 crew to the Moons surface in 1969, earning the collection the renowned status it holds today. These crew members included Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin who wore a ref 105.012 and Michael Collins who wore the later ref. 145.012. When comparing these references to modern day models the closest reference too either is the Omega ref 3570.50.00. Introduced in 1996, the then-new Moonwatch ref 3570.50.00 was effectively identical to the watches worn by the Apollo 11 crew, with the exception of a few minor details such as the luminescent material used in the hands and hour markers and the watch movement. In fact the ref 3570.50.00 was one of Omega’s first watches to incorporate Luminova into the dial as oppose to the previously used tritium. Powered by a manual wind calibre 1861, the watches movement is rhodium plated and contains 18 jewels.

This Omega Speedmaster Professional is an example of the 3570.50.00 reference, featuring a black dial covers by a hesalite crystal and displaying a running seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock, a 30 minute sub-dial at 3 o’clock, and a 12 hour sub-dial at 6 o’clock. The dial also contains a central chronograph hand that have be operated with the two push buttons on either side of the watches crown.  With a 42mm steel case watch also displays a black tachymetric scale bezel and is presented on a steel Omega 1998 bracelet. Circa 2014, this example was one of the last produced with production ceasing in 2014 to make way for the new model. Having just returned from our local Omega certified service centre this watch is accompanied by our 24 month service warranty, along with its original box and card set.
