Originally, the Datejust was going to be named the Jubilee as the watch was introduced on the 40th anniversary of Rolex. However, they decided against it and the new bracelet, made specifically for the Datejust was called the Jubilee instead. The Datejust name was never in fact, printed on early models and the Datejust name was not adopted until the early 1950’s, whereas, before this, the watch just had Oyster Perpetual printed on the dial.
