Rolex Daytona

The Daytona is one of Rolex's most iconic and recognisable watches of all time, with a distinctive dial and case silhouette. This example is ref. 116520, this reference was first launched by Rolex in 2000 and at the time replaced the ref. 16520 which was introduced in 1988. The ref. 116520 marked a milestone for Rolex, introducing Rolex's first fully in-house chronograph movement into the Daytona lineage. This example features a contrasted look between steel and black on the dial with Super Luminova filled  hour markers. The watches date-less design create a sense of symmetry on the dial, with the Daytona's signature red "Daytona" script above the minute sub-dial. Displaying the classic Rolex crown at 12 o'clock. The watch also features Super Luminova filled hands to indicate the time. Comprised of steel, this example contains a 40mm case with screw-down pushers, a crown, and fixed Tachymetre bezel. Housed within this case is the Rolex calibre 4130 automatic movement. Since its launch in the Daytona ref. 116520 the Rolex caliber 4130 has become widely-praised and has thus replaced the caliber 4030 Zenith based movement and become the brand's standard chronograph mechanism, even being utilised  in the contemporary ref.116500 with a ceramic bezel, complete with superlative chronometer timekeeping and a 72-hour power reserve. Circa 2012, this example sits on a stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet with the more modern machined steel clasp. Having been recently serviced in April of 2022 this example still possesses service stickers on the sides of the case and the caseback. In very good condition with minimal signs of wear on the bracelet, this Daytona is accompanied by its box, bezel protector, card, and booklet.
